Becky G's new song ignites a former flame.
Gomez made a mainstream name for herself when 2014’s “Shower” and “Can’t Stop Dancin’” off her EP Play It Again swarmed radio on heavy rotation, but the pop star is having a little trouble finding her footing in light of Kemosabe Records’ legal drama with producer Dr. Luke, whom she’s currently signed with.
In recent months, Becky released co-directed dual videos for “Sola” and "Mangú" off her forthcoming Spanish debut album, as well as a collaboration with Lil Jon and Yandel on the club anthem “Take It Off.”
Today, the pint-sized diva is sharing a never-before-heard track titled "Not Backing Down." Gomez took to Facebook Live to share it just cause.
She says the song is inspired by "what it is to be in a relationship and no longer have that person." She adds: "it ends in that way where it’s like, ‘I’m doing just fine without you,’ and the other person's like ‘I’m just fine without you,’ and it’s like that prideful breakup… but you’re still kind of intertwined with each other.”
The track was recorded in late 2015, around the time she was romantically linked with singer Austin Mahone, but she's since moved on with soccer player Sebastian Lletget. Well, not entirely...
Listen below, and keep an eye out for Becky G's debut studio album which hopefully drops some time in 2017.
She also teased a song titled "Bésame":
