Azealia Banks’s Record Deal With Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA Over Before It Started

UPDATE // OCTOBER 20: RZA wrote a lengthy message on Facebook explaining he had no idea what he was getting himself into when signing Azealia Banks. “I HAD NO REAL EXPERIENCE OF HER SOCIAL BEHAVIOR…”, he said. Read below:

UPDATE // OCTOBER 19: Azealia Banks is ending her personal and professional relationship with RZA because he didn’t come to her defense following the fiasco with Russell Crowe.

TMZ reports “RZA’s rep called her this week about closing the deal, and she made it clear … the deal is OFF.” And RZA is apparently not mad about it, because he insists Banks was clearly in the wrong.

Azealia Banks brings good news (for once).

Not only did Banks recently denounce her support for Presidential candidate Donald Trump, but she’s revealed a new record deal with RZA. “I’m FINALLY getting a record deal,” she revealed. “I’m signing with RZA. He and I have an excellent work chemistry. Filming coco with him was loads of fun!! Now I get to make music with him!!!”

As Spin points out, Coco is an an upcoming music film directed by RZA in which Banks plays an up-and-coming female rapper. When art imitates life. Or is it the other way around?

She added: “Business and Pleasure is imminent.”

Banks has had a volatile relationship with previous representation – she parted ways with Interscope in 2014, which opened the door for the female MC to release the flawless Broke With Expensive Taste LP with Prospect Park. A year later, she ditched Prospect Park and self-released her recent mixtape Slay-Z.

As for the Donald Trump remarks I mentioned before, Banks admits she feels “dumb for ever having added my two cents to this election mess.” She’s asking for an apology. “I really hope my fans and peers can forgive me for that as I make a promise to never mix music and politics ever again.”

All is forgiven! Until the next racial rant…
