Avril chats to Billboard about her post-illness plans for her career.
Avril Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme for months, but she's not letting that stop her. While bedridden, Avril had time to reflect on life and career, and she revealed she wants to start working on "passion projects" next as opposed to a traditional album and tour scenario.
Avril opened up to Billboard to discuss what the future holds for her now that she's healthy again. First up, she will release a new song entitled "Fly" on April 16 to coincide with the 2015 Special Olympics World Games. She wrote the song in 2013 for her own charity, but is now giving it to the Olympic World Games.
The song is really inspirational and means a lot to me -- and with the Special Olympics, it's a natural fit... Originally I went for a more pop production, and then I scrapped it. I wanted it to be more stripped-down, and let the vocal be the lead part of the song."
Next, she wants to star in another film – nearly ten years after her last film appearance. She says she has a few things lined up, but she doesn't want to jump the gun and spill details just yet!
Lastly, Avril spilled that she's working on a Christmas album next. Yes, you read that right! Her sixth studio album will have to wait until after her first holiday album hits shelves.
I've always wanted to make a Christmas album, but I've never had the time. But now it's like, 'You know what, just do it!' Because that's something I really want to do, so that's going to be next for me.
I must say, the thought of Avril covering "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is really, really cool. Very cool. Cool.
