Several years have passed since the Canadian pop princess' last body of work: 2013's self-titled. Life came up, including a breakup and an unsettling diagnosis that she has Lyme disease. Avril put everything on hold, including any creative projects, but the singer is back at it.
Avril first revealed she was hitting the recording studio back in December. "It hasn't just been a hard battle but it's also been enlightening and will reflect in my new music, artistry, life, and personally,” she said at the time.
Since then, Avril has kept fans in the loop via Instagram. She’s shared a bunch of photos during the creative process, and even confirmed the production for the record was officially underway beginning in May.
The summer is nearing an end, and we're this close to hearing the new tunes. At least, according to a new report from E! News. A source is telling them Avril has plans to release in the fourth quarter.
"She should be releasing new music by the end of the year," the source reveals. "It's been a slow process."
They added Avril drew inspiration from her personal experiences.
"She writes her own material and she's been through a lot with her marriage and her illness," the source explained. "She has a lot to say."
E! also reports she's been dating producer J.R. Rotem and has even collaborated with him on new music, so expect a couple of bangers on the new album(!!!).
