Janet Jackson is a fan, enough said.
This could be the beginning of a promising career for Sinead. Although her experimental R&B is reminiscent of a few up and coming acts, she seems to strike a better balance of vocal ability, experimental beats, and lyrics than most.
Sinead is currently finishing up her still unnamed debut album due out this year.
Tinashe and Jhené Aiko will soon have company in the laid back, experimental R&B category from British singer Sinead Harnett. The half Thai and half Irish singer has been grinding in the music industry for the past few years and it’s finally paying off. Sinead was discovered on her personal YouTube channel four years ago and has been building a buzz ever since. She’s been the featured vocalist on a few songs, but her feature on Disclosure’s “Boiling” made people take notice. Now she is gearing up for her own solo album. Her first official single, “She Ain’t Me,” encapsulates her vibe. The song is a laid-back, R&B influenced kiss-off that exudes a subtle confidence as she reminds her ex exactly what he’s missing out on. She recently told The Fader, "I'm an understated person and I'm not like 'look it's me!'" “She Ain’t Me” succeeds at being understated and impactful. An artist like Christina Aguilera or Jessie J could have easily turned this song into a shouting anthem.
"I wrote "She Ain't Me" on a sunny day and I'd never written about relationships before really. I was just avoiding it I think. It felt like the first time I'd felt that don't piss me off attitude. It was important to me not to just show that top layer."Sinead is also gaining some high profile fans. It’s no surprise that her laid back vibe caught the attention of Janet Jackson. On a recent recording trip to LA, she met with Rodney Jerkins who said Janet was a fan of her song "No Other Way.”
