Are Madonna & Rita Ora The Next Britney & Iggy?

Apparently, Madonna and Rita Ora have a song & music video completed.

Ah, yes, it’s the era of female empowerment through collaborations. Whether it’s Iggy Azalea and Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” Iggy and Charli XCX’s “Fancy,” Lady Gaga & Beyonce’s “Telephone,” Britney & Iggy’s “Pretty Girls,” Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston’s “When You Believe,” you get the point, female duos are here to stay. So the report claiming Madonna has her sights set on Rita Ora for a new song is no surprise. In fact, we should have seen this coming after the social media dialogue between the two commenced when Madonna faced sexist/ageist backlash from her sloppy kiss with Drake at Coachella.

Rita wrote on Instagram:

“Thank you for fighting all these ageist battles, and paving a way, that just maybe one day, all of us “Younger” Artists won’t have too in the future!”

Of course Madonna responded, and just like that… The Queen of pop’s pupils dilated, claws sharpened, canine teeth emerged. She found her next rebel heart.

A source told The Sun of their rumored video shoot last Friday, saying: “It’s an incredible coup for Rita to do a vid with Madonna and shows how big she is becoming… They met at showbiz events but had a real connection, so Madonna asked her to do it.” They added, “Rita changed her schedule to be able to do the filming in an instant.”

Because of course.

Interesting timing, seeing as Madonna filmed her music video for “Bitch I’m Madonna” last Thursday and possibly into Friday. We know this because The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne posted a clip of her mid-shoot alongside the song’s producer, Diplo. Unless Madonna’s pulling double duty, it’s hard to imagine she’d have two videos shot in same day. Assuming the rumors are true and a Madonna/Ora video is in fact already filmed, it might be for the “Iconic” singer’s upcoming “Rebel Heart” tour, which already sees delays due to production-related problems. Madonna famously enlisted Britney Spears for a cameo as a backdrop during “Human Nature” at her Sticky & Sweet Tour, so it’s entirely plausible the Queen is asking more famous friends to lend their face.

And if it’s entirely true, look forward to a brand new song and music video by Madonna not available on “Rebel Heart.” Unless it leaks way, way ahead of schedule… again.
