Praise the early 2000s Disney pop Gods.
See the Instagram post below! It's been a long and winding road for Aly & AJ, but the pop twosome are finally back where they belong. Earlier this week, Aly Michalka took to Instagram to share a shot of her with her singing sister AJ Michalka and the big announcement about their return to their bread and butter. "Back in the studio with this one ⬅️," she wrote in her post.
Aly & AJ haven't been on the music front for some time now. While Aly got married last year, AJ has been on the film scene working on ABC's "The Goldbergs." However, they're focus is back on the music and their new LP already has a list of collaborators, including Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem) and Ryan Spraker (Weezer). Even though the duo attempted to work on something independently during their time as 78Violet, the girls recently told Twitter followers that they hope to release via "a label this go around" since "it's much easier that way."
P.S. We'll be writing and recording this upcoming record with Mike Elizondo and Ryan Spraker. — Aly & AJ Michalka (@alyandaj) April 5, 2016Back in 2013, they spoke to Fuse News about the reasoning behind the name change. "It was just this natural progression from becoming children to women. We got signed at such a young age. We became these two girls that were twins kind of and no one knew who was who. We kind of just came across the idea about two or three years ago that we wanted to change our band name and our direction," AJ revealed.
