An alleged leaked tracklist reveals Rihanna’s upcoming record might drop this Sunday.
Twitter handle @R8MAY24th, which has since been wiped clean off the Internet, posted what appears to be top secret details from Rihanna’s “R8” era. According to the unofficial leak, the record is titled “EIGHT,” includes a lengthy 18-song tracklist and will land online Sunday, May 24.
Do we have any reason to believe the screen capture is authentic? Absolutely not, however we would like to point out how Rihanna’s R8 formula is a bit scattered. Her musical catalogue for each recent release travels its own route. While “FourFiveSeconds,” “Bitch Betta Have My Money,” “A Night” and “American Oxygen” sound solid in their own respects, they haven’t felt like tracks we’d hear from the same record. It’s as if Rihanna threw the 18 songs she recorded into a hat and chucked a couple at us in the hopes one would stick. Or perhaps we’re just not grasping her cunning intelligence quite yet, after all, she made it this far without BreatheHeavy’s judgement regarding her album release strategy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It is also odd to release a record on a Sunday, however nothing surprises us about the way in which artists are choosing to debut their albums these days. Beyonce surprised us on a Friday night, and it proved to be one of the best musical moves of her career. While it is rumored the record will receive exclusivity from TIDAL, we have a feeling Rihanna might hold off seeing as sales and chart positions remain lukewarm. Then again, after Beyonce and Nicki Minaj’s unannounced video drop for “Feeling Myself” hit TIDAL this week… all bets are off.
Whatever the fact may be, we’ll know sooner than later if this alleged tracklist that was quickly pulled from the web is the real deal, or yet another one of the many fakes conjured up by a Twitter troll in the hopes to make some wave.

My gut feeling tells me this is a bust, however the thirst is undeniably real. She’s mentioned collaborations with Skrillex, Snoop Dogg and a few others in recent months, and we’re sure The Navy will debunk this in FourPointFive seconds after publishing, but there’s no question… music wants Rihanna’s entire record out, whether she likes it or not.
