Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine to take the Academy stage, performing Oscar nominated track, "Lost Stars".
Speculation about who will perform at this year's Academy Awards has been rife since earlier this month when the endlessly baffling and predictably shady nominations were announced for Best Original Song.
Alongside the lofty heights of the likes of "Everything Is Awesome" from The LEGO® Movie (featuring renowned musical innovators and wildly critically acclaimed The Lonely Island) "Lost Stars" from 2014's 'Begin Again' scored a nomination, and as such, Adam's landed himself a ticket to perform at the 2015 ceremony.

Taking to Twitter, the "Moves Like Jagger" star revealed:
Although Adam's not personally nominated for the award as it's a recognition of songwriting and not performance, it goes to show that a nod can be a golden ticket even for an artist who hasn't written on a nominated track - the chance to perform at the Oscars is definitely an enviable opportunity. Adam seemed pretty pleased, as you can see in his tweet, and no doubt he'll kill it on the night; Maroon 5 have always been a fantastic live act and Levine's solid vocal abilities are certainly a huge part of that. I'm also intrigued to see the serial Victoria's Secret model seducer performing solo after years of seeing him as part of one of the world's most successful bands.

It's a great track, and although it's unlikely to win against recent Golden Globe recipients John Legend and Common, it'll be interesting to see how Adam pulls it off on the night. What'll also be interesting is to see if the Academy invite any of the other nominees to perform, especially with rumours swirling (thanks to Diane Warren) that Rita Ora will also be making a musical appearance.
