Queen of Tejano music, Selena, gets revived in concert thanks to hologram technology.
Selena's camp confirmed the news via Facebook, describing the project as a “walking, talking, singing, and dancing, digital embodiment” of the late singer.
Her digital persona is known as "Selena The One," which will release new songs and videos and collaborate with current hit artists before going on tour in 2018.
The company developing and commercializing Selena's "digitized Human Essence with unparalleled interactivity," Acrovirt, worked with the best neuroscience universities to ensure they immortalize her to the best of their ability, reports Billboard. Acrovirt claims they are using "detailed individual personalized functions spanning the mind, brain and body, the individual’s Digitized Human Essence will autonomously learn and react on behalf of its human counterpart’s."
A lot goes into the planning of "Selena The One," and took an immense amount of planning and imagination to get the project off the ground. Selena's father told the Associated Press in 2014 it almost fell through because "the prices are ridiculous and it requires the transportation of tons of equipment."
