Brooding in the brain.
"You're in my blood, you're in my veins, you're in my head."
Camila's self-titled album is well on its way. The pop star wrote a letter to fans revealing why she decided to scrap the original title, The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving., for Camila.
“I can’t wait for you to hear what has been the soundtrack to the past year of my life… all of these songs have special memories behind them, and i’m not gonna lie, it feels emotional letting them go, feels like the end of a chapter,” she said. “this is where this chapter in my life ended. it started with somebody else’s story, it ended with me finding my way back to myself.”
Cam also promised another double feature, and here we are. The first taste off Camila is out today (Dec. 7). It's a song titled "Never Be The Same." She also premiered a chill new song titled "Real Friends," which you can listen to here.
On "Never Be The Same," Camila is looking for an instant fix. "Something must have gone wrong in my brain / bunch of chemicals all in my veins / feeling all the highs / feel all the pain," she sings over a brooding beat. "Just like nicotine, heroin, morphine / Suddenly I'm a fein and you're all I need." Her vocals are breathy and melt over slinky production that builds as the song trickles along.
If the rest of Camila sounds like "Never," we're in for a treat.
